St. Paul PTO

What Do We Do?

In order to bring you more information about our organization, we want to share with you details about many of the things we coordinate throughout the year. Note that volunteers are needed to help with the activities.  New ideas and suggestions for improvement are always welcome!

Unique & Bizarre Holidays

Many days throughout the year, a selected unique holiday is recognized by the PTO.  Information about the holiday is shared and activities may center around the holiday.  Staff and students seem to like this activity as you never knew what holiday we are going to celebrate next!  Past celebrations have included Teddy Bear Day where each student brought their teddy bear to school, Candy Corn Day where the PTO gave out candy corn to each student and special lunches served for students.

Uniform Exchange

Have uniform items that no longer fit or need new ones?  Check out our Uniform Exchange Racks located just outside the school library.  Donations can be left at the exchange site and our coordinator will sort the donations.

Craft Days

Periodically, the PTO holds a craft day for students.  The event is free and allows them to make a variety of crafts to keep or share.  PTO volunteers help with the craft activities on the selected Saturday.

Catholic Schools Week

The last week in January kicks off Catholic Schools Week and it is a busy week for the St. Paul PTO.  We do many different activities each day.  This year’s events will include spirit days such as college gear day, sunglasses day, slippers day, and school spirit day.  Additionally, we will again invite community leaders to lunch with the students, provide daily snacks in the teachers lounge for the staff, have classes make a Hall of Fame display, host a talent show and more!  Additionally, information about St. Paul School and artwork from our children has been displayed at the Marion Public Library and the North Park Mall.  We hope to do this again.  The goal of the PTO is to share our school with the community while generating spirit within the school.

School Carnival

The carnival is an annual event for the school held as the conclusion of Catholic Schools Week.  A variety of games and food are offered at the carnival.  Workers are needed for set up and tear down, along with handling the games and food during the event.  More details will be given out as the carnival approaches.

Box Tops 4 Education

Families are asked to collect Box Tops 4 Education labels from General Mills products and bring them to school.  Each box top is worth 10 cents.  Enclosed in this packet you will find more information about this program and the additional ways you can earn tops for our school.  Note that you can also sign up to get coupons to purchase the items with box tops by visiting www.boxtops4education.com.

Staples Printer Cartridge Recycle for Education

Again, we will be collecting empty printer cartridges through the Staples Recycled for Education program.  There is a collection box in the Gathering Area (lobby of the school.  Each cartridge is worth $3!!!!

Special Events

The PTO sponsors five special events throughout the school year.  Miniature golf night, family fun night, swimming night and more are being planned. A skating party with be held at the Idyl Wyld Skating rink in south Marion.  There may be small admission fees, along with the cost of other needed equipment.  Everyone in the family is encouraged to come and bring along your friends!!!

End of Year Classroom Gifts

At the end of the year, each teacher is allotted money from the PTO to purchase something for their classroom.  The teachers’ submit their requests and the PTO works to purchase the item(s) for them.

Jean Days

At different events throughout the year, parents can earn their child a free jean day! Sign in and indicate their child’s or children’s grade levels at the designated events.  Your child will then receive a coupon for a free preset Jean Day.  Our goal is to reward all students whose parents are able to assist with events.

Tour of Homes Bake Sale

For the last 2 years, we were able to coordinate the Tour of Homes Bake Sale.  This large event provided us with a great start to the year.  Families are asked to bring baked goods to the school in mid-September.  They are sorted, priced and taken to one of the Tour homes.  We then sell the items and are able to keep the funds.

Spaghetti Dinner

The second annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser was held in 2007 to aid with the purchase of air conditioning for the school cafeteria.  It was a success.  Each fall the PTO plans to raise money to provide items needed by the school.  Help will be needed to sell tickets, serve food and clean up.
